Fire station to host cycle maintenance event

Young cyclists are being invited to go along to Fallings Park Fire Station in Wolverhampton this weekend so firefighters can check their bikes are in good and road-worthy condition.

Firefighters at the station have teamed up with Cycle Training West-Midlands to gain a qualification in cycle maintenance. They will now aim to hold cycle maintenance events at venues throughout the area.

The first one is to take place at the Fire Station in Bushbury Road, Fallings Park, from 10am on Saturday, April 4.

Mick Herriman, Youth Development Officer for Wolverhampton, said: "cycle training is an extremely important issue for us and these cycle maintenance events will help us keep young people safe as they ride around our city.

"Not only can we help ensure their bikes are in good and roadworthy condition, avoiding problems on the roads, we also get a great opportunity to talk to them about road safety and the work we do."
